Case study

Alexandra Palace — high-level glazing & difficult access

Nearly 10 years of high-level glazing and difficult-access works at Alexandra Palace: commercial glass replacement, façade cleaning, decorating and roof repairs on a live Grade II North London venue. Palm Court: 89 replacements of Georgian wired glass. Rope access and powered access keep the building open. Photographic close-out on every job.

The challenge

Alexandra Palace is a live Grade II venue. Works had to land without scaffold shutdowns that would close public space or derail the programme.

Method

Rope access and powered access were selected so the building could stay open. In Palm Court, spider / powered access reached the barrel-vaulted Georgian wired glass ceiling without a scaffold shutdown. Exclusion, protection and photographic evidence were built into every visit.

Works delivered

  • Palm Court: 89 replacements of Georgian wired glass to the Grade II listed Alexandra Palace
  • Commercial glass replacement at height
  • Façade and rope-access cleaning
  • Decorating at height
  • Commercial roof repairs

Close-out

Photographic records before, during and after every job — the same standard we apply across commercial and FM instructions.

Related capability: high-level fabric on live venues is also supported by our drone building surveys — aerial façade and roof condition photography that feeds the same inspection and access-led repair offer.
